CCAC August 5th, 2021 MEETING: Charlie Grimes, “Catfish, The Grimes Way”

Come meet Mr. Charley Grimes. Charley is extremely well-known in the hobby and has been an avid aquarist since the age of 14. His first fish tank was a 12+ gallon tank that he made from an old gasoline pump cylinder.  He has maintained well over 100 tanks and has worked with  small barbs, killies, native fishes, rainbow fishes, various Badis species, cichlids, as well as gobys and gudgeons just to name a few.

Living in the Indianapolis area, Charley is active with the Circle City Aquarium Club. He has 1523 points and is a Grandmaster Breeder. He is one of the best-known pure hobbyists among US aquarists. His popularity is the result of his aquarist skill and experience, his personality and sense of humor and his willingness to share all of the above with others. There is a HUGE demand for Charley’s presentations, especially among the cichlid- and killifish-oriented clubs. He has spoken at American Cichlid Association and American Killifish Association conventions, at past OCA meetings and at four OCA Extravaganzas. Charley has also been an avid fish collector and has taken three trips to South America and one to Mexico. In the spring, he often gets “Native Fish Fever” and collects locally in Indiana and in the southeastern part of the country. He has been keeping fish for sixty years and still loves it. Come listen to his amazing talks that people come from afar to listen to. It is not one to be missed.

As Charlie says about this talk:
“I was almost always have at least one species of Corys and Ancistris in my fishroom.
Occasionally I get into the Corydoras mode and I’ll be working with a dozen or more species.
I originally created this presentation to give at an OCA convention in Cleveland.”
